Day 1 : Arrive Queenstown

On arrival in Queenstown, you will be met and transferred to your hotel for a 2-night stay.

This afternoon, experience an adrenaline-pumping jet boat ride across Lake Wakatipu and down the legendary Kawarau and Shotover Rivers. These high-powered twin-engine jet boats reach thrilling speeds of up to 59 mph, complete with heart-racing 360-degree spins in one of the world’s most breathtaking landscapes. Zoom through the emerald, green waters of the Kawarau River, framed by the majestic Remarkables Mountain range, before racing down the shallow braided channels of the Shotover River, skimming over water as shallow as 2 inches for the ultimate jet boating adventure.

Day 2 - Queenstown (B)

The Funyak Safari offers an unforgettable way to explore the stunning Dart River. Begin with an exhilarating 1.25-hour jet boat ride upstream before switching to an inflatable Funyak canoe for a leisurely 2-hour paddle downstream, guided by an expert.

Drift through the shimmering channels, surrounded by breathtaking landscapes, and stop for a wilderness buffet lunch amidst ancient beech forests. Explore hidden side streams, rock pools, and dramatic chasms like Rockburn, before continuing downstream to Paradise, where a 4WD coach will take you back to Glenorchy with scenic stops along the way. Suitable for most ages, no experience is needed, and wetsuits are provided—just bring swimwear and a towel.

Day 3 - Te Anau (B)

Enjoy a leisurely morning before collecting your rental vehicle and traveling to Te Anau (approx. 2 hours). Travel past rolling farmlands, rugged mountain ranges and the shimmering waters of Lake Wakatipu. Along the way, stop at Kingston for panoramic lake views or visit Five Rivers Café for a cozy break before continuing through the picturesque Southland countryside.

On arrival, check-in to your hotel for a 3-night stay.

Day 4 - Te Anau (B)

Experience rugged peaks, verdant rainforest and twisting and hidden inlets on a full-day tour to Doubtful Sound. The only way to reach Doubtful Sound is by taking a scenic cruise across Lake Manapouri, followed by a bus journey over the stunning Wilmot Pass, New Zealand's most expensive and remote road. Along the way, pause to take in the lush Fiordland rainforest and capture breathtaking views of Doubtful Sound shimmering below, a hidden gem known only to the most adventurous travelers.

Once there, board the Patea Explorer for a 3-hour cruise through the untouched beauty of Doubtful Sound, surrounded by dramatic cliffs and serene waters. Your knowledgeable skipper or nature guide will share fascinating insights about the region’s history, landmarks, and diverse wildlife, including playful dolphins, sunbathing fur seals, and the elusive Fiordland crested penguin.

Day 5 - Te Anau (B)

Experience the ultimate guided day walk on the Kepler Track from Te Anau, starting with a scenic helicopter flight over Lake Te Anau and the lush native beech forest, landing in the alpine zone at Luxmore Hut. Hike through alpine tussock fields, taking in panoramic views of the surrounding Fiordland mountains, with the option to ascend to the summit of Mt Luxmore (weather permitting).

After exploring the alpine area, descend through beech forest, passing beneath towering limestone bluffs, before reaching the sandy shores of Brod Bay, where a water taxi awaits to take you back to Te Anau. The hike from Luxmore Hut to Brod Bay is an 8 km downhill walk, suitable for those with a medium level of fitness, with an optional 1-3 hour extension for those wanting to venture further towards the summit.

During non-operational months (May 21 – Sep 30), the Kepler Track will be replaced with a Fiordland Heli-hike:

Starting at the Te Anau lakeside base, take off on a scenic flight over Lake Te Anau with breathtaking views of the Hidden Lakes and the rugged Kepler Mountains. Touch down beside a pristine mountain tarn, where you’ll soak in the crisp alpine air and panoramic views of the Main Divide before continuing your flight over the remote Kepler Mountains.

Land at Luxmore Hut with stunning vistas of Lake Te Anau’s South Arm, and begin your hike along the Kepler Great Walk trail, renowned for its well-formed paths and dramatic landscapes. Along the way, explore fascinating limestone caves (optional) and take in incredible views of Fiordland’s wilderness. Your adventure seamlessly combines air, land, and lake, creating an unforgettable experience. Maps and a full briefing are provided before departure, ensuring you’re fully prepared to explore this remarkable alpine environment.

Day 6 - Nelson (B)

After breakfast, return to Queenstown Airport to drop-off the rental car prior to your flight to Nelson. On arrival collect another vehicle and make your way to your hotel for a 3-night stay. The remainder of your day is free to explore or at leisure.

Day 7 - Nelson (B)

Travel to Kaiteriteri to meet your guide before boarding the 9:20 am Vista Cruise to journey along the stunning coastline to Torrent Bay. Upon arrival at Torrent Bay Lodge, receive a comprehensive safety briefing and kayaking training before setting out to explore the scenic waters between Torrent Bay and Pinnacle Island.

Paddle through beautiful beaches, tidal estuaries, and hidden coves, stopping at a sheltered beach for lunch, where you can swim, sunbathe, or relax on the golden sands. On the return journey, if conditions allow, hoist the kayak sails and glide back to Torrent Bay. Stop at Pinnacle Island to visit the seal colony and spot blue penguins and seabirds resting on rocky outcrops.

After your kayaking adventure, farewell your guide and set off on a self-guided 2-hour bush walk around the scenic Torrent Bay Lagoon, passing Cleopatra’s Pool before reaching Anchorage. Re-board the Vista Cruise at 5:20 pm, arriving back at Kaiteriteri by 6:00 pm. Return to Nelson.

Day 8 - Nelson (B)

Get ready for an unforgettable day ride, taking you one a thrilling downhill journey through lush forests, rolling farmland, a historic tunnel and alongside meandering rivers. Start your adventure with a shuttle to Flat Rock Café in Kohatu, nestled in the scenic Tasman hills, where you can enjoy a fresh coffee and cheese scone before hitting the trail.

Cycle a 31-mile off-road route following the historic railway line back to Nelson, featuring exhilarating downhill stretches and scenic views of hop plantations, native forests, and boutique wineries. Pass through the Waimea Plains, a vibrant patchwork of crops and natural beauty, and pedal through the .86-mile Spooner’s Tunnel, the longest cycle tunnel in the southern hemisphere—an exhilarating ride through complete darkness.

Pause to explore the historic villages of Wakefield and Brightwater and celebrate the end of your ride with a craft beer at Eddyline or McCashin’s Breweries.

Day 9 - Wellington (B)

After breakfast, drive to Picton to return your rental vehicle. Board the Interislander for a scenic journey across Marlborough Sound to Wellington.

On arrival, you will be met and transferred to your hotel for a 3-night stay.

This afternoon, discover New Zealand’s rich history and cultures through Te Papa’s world-leading exhibitions and treasures. Hear stories of our adaptive wildlife, the resilience of the Māori people, and artistic interpretations of life in the South Pacific.

This morning, meet your guide at Queens Wharf in central Wellington, where you’ll receive a safety briefing and practice riding your electric bike in a car-free area. Once comfortable, set off on a scenic bike tour along Wellington’s Waterfront, passing the vibrant Oriental Bay and gliding along the Miramar Peninsula’s coastal roads. Stop at a local café before looping back to the city, then switch to 'turbo' mode to effortlessly climb to a lookout point, offering stunning panoramic views of Wellington, the Miramar Peninsula, and the ocean harbour entrance.

Make your way to the I-site bus bay and transfer to Weta Workshop for a 90-minute guided tour that will take you “there and back again”. Step into Wētā Workshop Experiences and explore a world of creativity, physical effects and movie magic on a guided tour through our creative home base.
